ABOUT

ROCKY MOUNTAIN LOBO

to bridge human connection and nurture healthy conversation across different communities who have a stake in the reintroduction of wolves to the Rocky Mountain wilderness

The Mission:

The How:

Rocky Mountain Lobo provides educational travel experiences focused on the history and current status of wolves living in the Rocky Mountains, with a special focus on building shared understanding and common ground across communities.
We believe in a world where humans and wolves coexist in harmony. To serve that end, Rocky Mountain Lobo deliberately engages participants with not only advocates for wild wolves but ranchers and other stakeholders with skin in the game.
Trips combine service learning at captive wolf sanctuaries, guided wildlife viewing expeditions, and visits to rural communities affected by wild wolves. In this way, participants learn about wolves both up close and afar while also gaining insight into the difficulties facing ranching communities throughout the Rocky Mountains.

Rocky Mountain Lobo is led by Sam Renk, who has spent more than a decade in a variety of teaching roles and worked in adventure tourism since 2019. He lived and worked at Mission: Wolf, a captive wolf sanctuary, for over two years where he coordinated their experiential education program and helped care for the resident animals.

He is passionate about the magic of the natural world and its potential to bring people from different backgrounds together, get them out of their comfort zones, and broaden their perspective toward each other.

Sam is the creator of modern.peasant, a blog and production company dedicated to drawing human experience into life's best moments. You can find his photography portfolio here.
