Days 1-3: CAPTIVE

Arrive in Denver and drive to Mission: Wolf Sanctuary in southern Colorado.

Mission: Wolf Sanctuary has spent nearly four decades caring for captive wolves and sharing their story through public education. For many years, co-founders Kent Weber and Tracy Ane Brooks traveled with wolves across the country on a bus tour of educational programs. These days, they welcome campers from all over the world to stay at the sanctuary for a few nights (or months..or years), learn about wolves and the sanctuary, and volunteer for the animals.

Days 4-9: WILD

Stay at a hot springs in Grand County, CO, and visit a local cattle rancher to learn about the difficulties facing rural communities living with wild wolves.

Then, head north to Gardiner, MT, and lodge for four nights just outside Yellowstone National Park. Spend days in iconic Lamar Valley hoping to see wolves and other wildlife with the help of Animals Abound, a local professional guide service.

Animals Abound is led by Paul Brown, who has over 20 years of experience guiding wildlife and environmental education programs. He has been part of several research projects around Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, including the Yellowstone Wolf Project.
